A Politically Exposed Person is someone who has been entrusted with a prominent public function, or an individual who is closely related to such a person.

Examples include:

• Heads of state, heads of government, ministers and deputy or assistant ministers
• Members of parliament or similar legislative bodies
• Members of governing bodies of political parties
• Senior executives of state-owned corporations and enterprises
• Government-appointed officials in senior positions
